Letter from the Founders: Field of Dreams

In the classic 1989 film, Field of Dreams, Ray Kinsella sees his vision while walking through a cornfield by hearing the words, “If you build it, they will come.” We at InnerVoice also have a vision. It’s a vision to create a forum where the Christian community can come together and share their experiences about God. Started by a small group of believers who shared a common dream to use the universal language of music to connect with this generation of believers and seekers, InnerVoice’s premiere issue is the culmination of several months of planning and hard work by the InnerVoice family.

Each person who contributed to the completion of this first edition of InnerVoice has been hand-picked by God for a specific role and share our goal of using this forum for the purposes of God’s Kingdom. These contributors make up the voice of InnerVoice, each bringing his or her unique talents, perspective, and life experiences. Our desire is to present the content of this forum as a corporate expression of worship to God – worship that transcends denominational and cultural divides and religious tradition.

Whether you prefer a contemporary style of worship or consider yourself a traditionalist, and regardless of your denominational affiliation, as Christians, our common identity is that we all consider ourselves followers of Jesus Christ. That’s the essential common ground to come together and support one another’s ministries.

InnerVoice is a publication by believers for believers, as well as for anyone who is seeking to know God more intimately. As a Christian-owned organization, InnerVoice is committed to publishing content that is family-friendly and consistent with our Statement of Faith. We believe that all true believers make up the body of the Church, and our goal is to encourage unity without compromising truth. We believe that truth is derived from the eternal Word of God, which is unchanging and relevant to every person in every culture and every generation.

The founders of InnerVoice are committed to helping and providing a voice for the underprivileged whose voice cannot be heard. This forum will be used to raise awareness for social causes and Christian ministries in our local communities as well as around the world. InnerVoice is committed to donating a portion of its gross advertising and subscription revenues directly to 501(c)3 charities.

In this issue, you’ll hear the story about a musician who gave up the life of a rock star and touring with mainstream rock bands to follow his calling to go work as “the technical guy” at a local church. You’ll get an in-depth look into the heart of an NFL football player who thought athletics and winning was everything there was to life…that is, until he personally encountered Jesus Christ. You’ll also hear some pastors share their perspectives and hear thoughts from people just like you in our Christian community. We hope you will find the content of this magazine to be relevant to your Christian walk and that the testimonies, messages, and reflections from fellow believers and the music-related content will inspire, inform, enlighten, and challenge you to help grow in your own faith.

As for us, our faith journey has led us here to our “field of dreams.” The formation of our InnerVoice family is one that only God could have orchestrated. Like in the movie, we don’t know which one of you will emerge next from out of the cornfields to contribute in our vision. It is our desire to be a voice for the Christian community and let God use this forum in a way that is pleasing to Him and serves His purpose.

So as we continue to walk together to build God’s Kingdom, it is with gratitude that we present InnerVoice, our "field of dreams..."
