STAR 99.1: Investing in Eternity

I have suffered from depression all my life. This past October I was in a deep, dark place from recent incidents and thought I couldn't or didn't want to go on any longer. I was driving in a rural area (seriously) considering driving off the side of an upcoming overpass. Out of the fuzz on the radio (rural area – bad reception) the STAR 99.1 station came on playing MercyMe’s “Bring the Rain.” I pulled to the side of the road so I didn't lose the song, amazed by the words. By the end of the song I was crying and I just heard God speak to my heart and say "I am with you, even now". I turned around and drove home to my family and told everyone what had happened to me! In the darkest, most horrible moment of my life God reached me in the middle of nowhere thru the STAR 99.1 radio station and that song.
The scene is all too familiar. We’re sitting at church during the Mother’s Day service, listening to the pastor’s all so relevant message, thinking about the people that we often take for granted. Some of us take it even a little bit further and imagine life without these people. It never bears a great feeling. Never.
For over 75 years, STAR 99.1 has been a beacon of Christ’s hope, purpose and passion for music listeners all over the New York City/New Jersey area. Many of us start the morning by listening to the reassuring voices of Johnny, Stacy, David and Dawn. And for all who have that harsh commute back home in the late afternoon, Keith will always help keep the NYC/NJ car attitude at bay. All of us can certainly attest to the encouragement and safe haven that STAR 99.1 offers to us and to our families.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the staff at STAR 99.1 during the past 8 years, and that hope, passion, and love of Christ that they give over the airwaves?…Even more inspiring in person. Every time I left the STAR 99.1 studios, I would leave humbled. Humbled that these folks would care to take the time to pray for me, each and every moment I stepped into their office. Humbled that they would always take the business out of the business and focus on the very thing that is most urgent, you and God.
But this all has to come at a cost.
We’re all looking out to invest in that stock that shows great promise or that investment property that will return a handsome reward when resold 10 years down the line. Not to minimize these investment opportunities that we eyeball at every chance possible, but how about investing in eternity? The opportunity is here.
Join InnerVoice in helping keep the ministry alive at STAR 99.1. Our good friends are a not-for-profit ministry, and they rely primarily on financial support from listeners/partners like you and me. Their shoestring, annual operating budget of $2.75 million for this year has yet to be reached. The opportunity is here to help continue to spread Christ’s message of hope through the faithful laborers at STAR 99.1. Your financial support will not only help STAR 99.1 reach hundreds of thousands of believers and seekers in this strategic NYC/NJ market, but will also form the foundation of a God-anointed wave that will ripple throughout this nation. Let’s not imagine our lives without this ministry on our radio dial. This year, let’s invest in something a little different…eternity.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. – Matthew 28:19
I thank you and my family thanks you!...Please stay on the air forever. I once heard a sermon that said bring the food into the storehouse from the Bible means give your money to the place you are being spiritually fed from. Well, STAR 99.1 FM is feeding my family - we have a radio in the kitchen with aluminum foil on the antenna so we can listen 24/7!
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and God bless you. STAR 99.1 FM saved a life and a family that day. – STAR 99.1 FM Listener
